This Egg Fast Belgian Waffle recipe is so delicious and easy that you will want to make it even if you aren't on an Egg Fast. Simple ingredients come together in minutes to create this delicious, gluten-free, keto, Egg Fast Belgian Waffle.
Egg Fast Waffle
Today fell on a Thursday which means that I have to be at work super early but it also means that I finish work much earlier than the other days of the week.
Knowing this in advance, I planned my egg fast meals accordingly so that I would be home on the day I was going to make an Egg Fast Belgian Waffle.
How is the egg fast going so far?
Honestly, easily!
Meal prepping and planning out my week made this fast a walk in the park. Also, with such a variety of food, I have yet to get sick of eggs.
However, with that being said, I did start off day #4 craving something on the sweeter side.
What are the Egg Fast Rules
An egg fast is a short-term, low-carb, high-fat strategy often used within the keto community to overcome weight loss plateaus. Lasting typically 3 to 5 days, the goal is to simplify food choices and stimulate fat burning by focusing on a small number of keto-friendly ingredients—mainly eggs, healthy fats, and cheese. This approach helps your body return to ketosis quickly and can reduce cravings while promoting rapid (though temporary) weight loss.

Egg Fast Rules:
- 🥚 Eat a minimum of 6 eggs per day (pasture-raised if possible).
- 🧈 Include 1 tablespoon of healthy fat (e.g., butter, coconut oil, olive oil, or avocado oil) for each egg consumed.
- 🧀 You may include up to 1 ounce of full-fat cheese per egg, but this is optional and should be limited.
- ⏰ Eat every 3–5 hours, even if you’re not very hungry.
- 🌅 Eat your first meal within 30 minutes of waking.
- 💧 Stay hydrated—drink plenty of water, and consider adding electrolytes.
- ☕ Black coffee and unsweetened tea are allowed, but limit or avoid sweeteners (even keto-friendly ones).
- 📆 Follow the egg fast for 3 to 5 days only, then slowly reintroduce other keto foods.

Is Cream Cheese counted as a Fat or a Cheese during an Egg Fast?
On an egg fast, cream cheese is typically counted as a cheese, not a fat. Here's why:
- Cream cheese contains both fat and protein, but it's not a pure fat like butter or oil.
- Most egg fast guidelines allow up to 1 oz of full-fat cheese per egg, and cream cheese falls into that category.
So if you're following the egg fast rules:
- You can include cream cheese as part of your 1 oz cheese allowance per egg,
- But it does not count as your tablespoon of fat—you’ll still need to include a separate fat source like butter, coconut oil, or avocado oil per egg.
3-Ingredient Easy Keto Waffle
You only need some eggs, cream cheese and cooking oil to make this recipe. I have used both my mini waffle maker by Dash as well as my large Belgian waffle maker.
I prefer using the Dash waffle maker as it makes four small waffles versus just one large egg fast waffle.
Egg Fast Belgian Waffle Instructions
- In a high speed blender, combined the eggs and cream cheese
- blend it for 1 minute
- Pour the mixture into a greased Belgian waffle maker or divide the mixture in 4 if using a mini waffle maker

Tips for Egg Fast Waffle
- if you don't have a high-speed blender, a hand mixer will probably work just as well.
- let your eggs and cream cheese come to room temperature - this makes it easier for them to come together in a blender
- if using the mini waffle maker, do not fill it completely as the egg fast waffle batter will puff up and may pour over

- for crispier waffles, leave the waffles in the waffle maker a little longer or throw them in a toaster after they have baked
- these easy keto waffles are great for sandwiches as well
Egg Fast Hack
Here is a bonus egg fast recipe if you have to get to work early like I do!
Knowing that I had to be at work by 6 a.m., I prepared a mason jar egg fast friendly cinnamon roll that is ultra-portable.
Here are the instructions: Combine 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 oz of cream cheese, 1-2 teaspoon of sweetener and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a greased, 2 cup mason jar.
When you are ready to eat it, simply shake the jar vigorously, remove the lid and place it in the microwave for 45 seconds. Stir the mixture and return it to the microwave for another 45 seconds. Feel free to drizzle a little sugar-free maple syrup over the top.
I removed mine from the mason jar just for the sake of taking a nicer picture but this is easily eaten right out of the jar.

Fat Fast Waffle
If you are on a fat fast instead of an egg fast, simply use the egg yolks from the eggs and add an additional 1 oz of cream cheese for a delicious fat fast waffle!
