Healthy Keto Pizza Bowl
Pizza has got to be the most beloved dish. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever met someone who doesn't like pizza. And although I love my Dairy-Free Eggplant Pizza Crust, my Beet Pizza Crust (which is actually Whole30 approved!) and my Dairy-Free Avocado Pizza Crust, sometimes I just don't feel like (or have any spare time!) to actually make a crust for my pizza toppings.
So, more often than not, take-out pizza or a frozen pizza ends up on our table. This means that I just end up eating the toppings off the pizza and leaving the crust behind.
Recently I saw that several national chains like Marco's pizza are selling a crustless pizza, calling it a pizza bowl. I figured it would be easy enough to make at home and more cost-effective. Plus, I wouldn’t have to go out and pick it up.
A homemade keto pizza bowl is a great option because there is no waste, and you can control all of the ingredients. When I tried my hand at making it myself, it turned out amazing, and it was so quick and easy! In fact, I’ve made it at least four times in the past two weeks and enjoyed leftovers for several other days.
What is a crustless keto pizza bowl?
Crustless pizza is just as it sounds. Basically, you omit the crust but add all of the other ingredients and bake. It makes a low carb alternative to regular pizza that is both simple to make and delicious.
Call it a keto pizza bowl or a healthy keto crestless pizza, either way, it is absolutely delicious (and also sooooo easy!)

Keto Pizza Bowl Toppings
Did you know that are a TON of keto pizza toppings worthy of your next keto pizza bowl?
Plus, all you really have to do is open up your fridge and rummage around for some keto pizza toppings like olives, banana peppers, chopped onion and any other odds and ends you want to use up.
Then, if you don't want to go with a keto plant-based or vegan option, add in some diced pepperoni, leftover ham, shredded rotisserie chicken or sausage.
Finally, you drizzle on some pizza sauce (Rao's is the lowest in carbs on the market), or simply add some homemade pesto or olive oil with some additional spices for an even lower carb option.
Lastly...the cheese! Since all cheeses are low carb and keto-friendly, you can go as wild as you want with cheese. Want to keep it vegan? Pick up some local vegan cheese at your supermarket and the problem is solved!
As you can see, the options for making a homemade keto pizza bowl with keto pizza toppings are limitless and I promise you, you will not miss the crust!

Keto Pizza Topping Ideas
Here is a list of different toppings and sauces you can use in your keto pizza bowl. If you are using meat, make sure that it is cooked, or, if it is raw, make sure that you cook it in the skillet before adding any toppings. Although the pizza is going to go in the oven, we are only going to broil it for a brief minute which won't be long enough to cook any raw meat.
Vegetable Keto Pizza Toppings: Olives, mushrooms, onions, artichokes, green bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms
Keto Sauce Options: Tomato paste, olive oil, sour cream or crème fraîche, Easy 5-Minute Vegan Pesto - Dairy-Free, Sundried Tomato Olive Tapenade (Whole30, Keto) or The BEST Keto Chimichurri Sauce - without cilantro!
Keto Cheese Options: Shredded cheddar, mozzarella, goat cheese, blue cheese, feta cheese, and parmesan.
Fresh or dried herbs: Oregano, rosemary, basil, garlic, ginger, and thyme.
Meat: Pepperoni, ham, sausage, bacon, shredded chicken, ground beef, smoked salmon and anchovies.

How to make a Keto Pizza Bowl
Step 1: Pick a bowl, cast-iron skillet, oven-friendly skillet or any other baking dish that is oven safe. If your ingredients are cold, I suggest using a baking dish that can be used on the stove-top as well as in the oven. This way, all you have to do is toss your keto pizza toppings into the skillet and heat them up first.
Step 2: Pick you keto pizza toppings for your pizza bowl. Like I mentioned above, if you toppings are cold, place them in your baking dish and heat them on the stovetop. If you are using raw meat, cook the meat first in the skillet and then add your pizza toppings. Add any herbs or seasonings that you want. I always have a Pizza Seasoning lying around so I just sprinkle some over my veggies.

Step 3: Pick your pizza sauce and layer it on top of the crustless keto pizza.
Step 4: Sprinkle as much (or as little!) cheese over the top.
Step 5: Place the pizza under the broiler in your oven, about 6-inches from the top element and broil until the cheese begins to bubble and turn brown.

What size skillet did I use for my Crustless Keto Pizza?
I used a Lodge 6″ cast iron skillet. I love that it goes from the stovetop to the oven with ease. Cast iron skillets are also very affordable, and they last forever. I have a shorter Le Creuset one I sometimes use as well.
CAN I USE A REGULAR BAKING DISH?
A cast-iron skillet is not necessary to make this recipe. Any baking dish or oven-safe skillet will work.
Again, make sure that if you want to saute any vegetables first that you use a dish that is both stove-top and oven safe. If you don't have one, simply saute your veggies first to cook them and then transfer them to any type of oven-safe dish.
Best Keto Pizza Sauces
I used a low carb marinara sauce for pizza sauce when I made this crustless pizza. Since there is no crust to absorb the sauce, you don’t need as much. I only used a half cup of sauce for a 10.25 inch cast iron skillet. A little bit goes a long way.
If you aren’t sure which sauce to look for at the grocery store, I’ve listed several of our favourites below, along with the net carb count. Make sure to look for a sauce that is sugar-free, meaning no added sugar in the ingredients.
If you don't want to cook your veggies first, you can just place everything in the oven and bake the healthy keto crustless pizza for about 20 minutes. Just be aware that the vegetables will release some moisture so you may end up with more liquid in your keto pizza bowl if you don't cook your veggies first.
Low Carb Sauce Options that are sugar-free:
For a Red Keto Pizza:
- Rao’s Homemade Marinara Sauce – 4g net carbs per ½ cup
- Rao’s Homemade Tomato Basil Sauce – 3g net carbs per ½ cup
- Lucini Italia Organic Tuscan Marinara Sauce – 3g net carbs per ½ cup
- Lucini Italia Organic Rustic Tomato Basil – 3g net carbs per ½ cup
- Mezzetta Napa Valley Homemade Sauce Marinara – 6g net carbs per ½ cup
For a Pesto Keto Pizza:
- Easy 5-Minute Vegan Pesto - Dairy-Free - 3 g net carbs per ¼ cup
- Rana Pesto Sauce - 3 g net carbs per ¼ cup
For a White Keto Pizza:
- Rao's Roasted Garlic Sauce - 1g net carbs per ¼ cup
- Primal Dairy-Free Alfredo Sauce - 4g net carbs per ¼ cup
If you had rather, skip preheating the sauce add the veggies and place all the ingredients in the baking, dish, and bake for approximately 20 minutes.
As I mentioned, I prefer the toppings under the mozzarella cheese then a small sprinkling of cheese on top. You can change up this recipe and personalize it depending on your favourite pizza toppings. My favourite toppings are olives, riced cauliflower, banana peppers and onion. Sometimes we will add some diced pepperoni or other meat if we have a craving!

WHAT DO I SERVE WITH THIS RECIPE?
I keep it simple and serve this with a salad like my Keto Warm Asparagus Bacon Salad or my Keto Maple Bacon Broccoli Salad. You could also enjoy your healthy keto crustless pizza with leftover Keto Bread Sticks.

There are 2g of net carbs in this Crustless Keto Pizza. The nutritional information provided in the recipe card is for the exact pizza I made in my kitchen. If you change the toppings or use a different pizza sauce, the net carbs will vary.
How to Reheat your keto pizza bowl
Although I doubt there will be any leftovers, if there are, this keto pizza bowl reheats beautifully. You can rewarm in the microwave, pop it back in the oven, or rewarm in the skillet on the stove. If using the oven, make sure to cover with aluminum foil to prevent the toppings from burning.
