What could be better than shrimp wrapped in bacon, you ask? Shrimp wrapped in prosciutto with a sweet and spicy jam and a rich and creamy slice of brie!
Bacon Wrapped vs Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp
When done right, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp is one of the easiest, most delicious appetizers you can make. But, there are a couple of extra steps that make this delicious appetizer concept more labour intensive.
First, bacon-wrapped shrimp requires you to cook the bacon a little first, or else the shrimp will become tough before the bacon is cooked.
Secondly, you have to use raw shrimp which means you have to devein the shrimp which is something I REALLY hate doing.
So, wanting bacon-wrapped shrimp but not wanting to put in the time to make them, I decide to modify this classic appetizer with a quick "cheater" version!
Sweet and Spicy Shrimp
These are a little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, and 100% delicious. They’re super easy to make so don’t be afraid to make a few batches!
This recipe is also highly customizable. I used my Sugar-free Hot Pepper Onion Jam but you could just add a little hot sauce or Sriracha sauce instead.
Don't like heat? Add your favourite BBQ sauce, chimichurri sauce, or some Keto Creamy Mustard Sauce.
Don't have any Brie? Use any type of cheese that you have on hand that will not melt too much such as swiss, Havarti, or gouda.
Ok..now that you have ZERO excuses, go make this shrimp dish now!!!

Easy Shrimp Appetizer
I love easy appetizers like this. During the holiday season, I make SO MANY apps for every possible party and gathering. Christmas, holiday parties, New Year’s Eve, the Super Bowl…the list never ends. So it’s important to have recipes that are simple to make but still FULL of flavor. These little prosciutto-wrapped appetizers fit the bill!
4-Ingredient Shrimp Wraps
Prosciutto - Prosciutto is an Italian dry-cured ham that is usually thinly sliced and served uncooked; however, in this recipe, we are going to bake the prosciutto which gives the prosciutto some crispiness. You actually don't have to bake this recipe as you can eat prosciutto raw, however, by baking the shrimp wraps, you end up with a perfectly gooey cheese that doesn't happen without it being placed in the oven.
Shrimp - I have made this recipe with both raw and cooked shrimp. I personally prefer using cooked shrimp as it saves on time. Raw shrimp requires extra time in the oven as well as deveining (which is when you remove the black string - which is actually the shrimp's digestive tract - since it can be filled with gritty sand) which is time-consuming and for me, somewhat disturbing so I prefer to use cooked shrimp. Any size shrimp (except for tiny salad shrimp) will work in this recipe.
Brie - Brie is an off-white, soft-ripened cheese, usually made from cow's milk. It has a bloomy rind of white mold, which is considered to be a delicacy. The flavor of brie is rich, buttery, fruity, and increasingly earthy with age. It has a runny, creamy texture and a strong earthy aroma. You can virtually use any type of cheese in this recipe. Tip - you want your cheese to "melt" while it is in the oven but not to the extent where it leaks out of prosciutto wrap.
Sugar-Free Hot Pepper Jam - Since creating this recipe (see this post), I have made it so many times and have used it on chicken and mixed it with cream cheese as a dip, that I knew I wanted to add to this recipe. If you don't want to make the jam, you can use any type of sauce that you have on hand.
