I can not believe I have been doing this now for 2 months! I was originally going to post monthly reports but decided that since there was not too much to write about, I would combine the last 2 months of the year into a single post.
Have you ever heard someone saying to be careful because "Mercury is in retrograde". I have and although I question astrology as a general principle, this "Mercury in retrograde" phenomena seemed to have played a role in my life these past months.
I will not go into the personal details of the past 2 months, but I think that by explaining the term "Mercury in retrograde", it will give you a mild insight with regards to the chaos of the past months. Here is a little explanation of this phenomena. Feel free to read between the lines to figure out why my month was not one of my best!
According to The Astrology Dictionary
each planet is associated with various aspects of life, and a retrograde period means there will be trouble involving the things associated with the planet in retrograde. Mercury is the planet associated with communication, media, travel and technology.
So, when Mercury in retrograde, people supposedly face difficulties in those areas of life. Travel plans are thwarted by weather or faulty directions; friends argue; relationships fall apart; your laptop breaks down.
The retrograde period started November 16th, 2018 and just finished on December 6th. Since the month was such a disaster, I decided to wait until after the 6th before committing to writing my monthly post!
November and December in Review:
Failures:
- I had some severe time restrictions with my free time and was not able to post as many recipes and blogs as I had last month
- I fired the company that was suppose to design my blog as they kept telling me it would be done by a certain date which never happened.
- I still can't figure out why my cheesecake recipe is filed under "main meals"
- I still don't have my website very well organized
As far as failures go this not too much to complain about!
Successes:
- I was able to get all my money back that I had invested with the company that was suppose to design my blog
- I was FINALLY able to join a group board on Pinterest
- I am slowly but surely getting my blog to look aesthetic pleasing (this is definitely a work in progress!)
- I created some awesomely amazing recipes and was able to take much better pictures thanks to my new camera.
- I did not burn my arm a single time this month!
- Someone actually "pinned" one of my recipes (and it wasn't me, my husband or my office manager!)
- I received a photo box and a tripod from Santa Clause (A.K.A - My mum and dad!) so my picture taking should improve
- On my Amazon Affiliate account, my report shows that I had 1 click on December 13th and 2 clicks on December 30th!
Financially, this month does not have a lot to report.
Balance from November: $-745.00
Expenses:
- New theme called Foodie Pro - $60
- Installation of Foodie Pro - $125
Total for the Month: $185
Income:
- Since I was reimbursed $349 from the web designing company, I will take that off the total cost of the blog
NOVEMBER PROFIT/LOSS REPORT: $-581.00
Final Thoughts:
Although these 2 months were difficult and my blogging was put on the back burner, I am still loving every second of this adventure. I realized that the month of October, I was trying too hard to get content up which was creating some stress. This blog is purely for the love of cooking, experimenting and exploring health and I feel like this month made me remember these simple things. Moving forward, I am hoping to get some more recipes up as well as preparing a monthly planning guide for next year.
