Wow, I can not believe that we are already 1 month into 2019! The month of January has had significantly more successes than failures.
If the evolution of my blog is any indication of what is yet to come, then I am super excited. As far as achieving my January goals, I successfully posted 3-4 new recipes a week, decreased the assisted weight on the pull up machine by 20 lbs, as well as finally actually making some money from my blog! If you are at all interested in my January 2019 goals, you can read more about them here.
January 2019 in Review:
Failures:
- I had a couple of recipes that really did not turn out. Aesthetically, they looked unappealing and were a little bland in taste. Luckily for me, my wonderful husband, Mr. Grumbles, ate the food and never complained!
- I am still not completely satisfied with the design of my website and need to iron out a few more kinks.
Successes
- My website is definitely looking better than last month.
- I figured out why my Chocolate Coconut Almond Joy Cheesecake was linked under main meals and not under "sweets and treats".
- My recipes are finally showing up on Pinterest.
- I actually made $4.50 from amazon...my very first income for my blog!
- I was able to set up the email subscription for my website (although I did have to pay $29 for an expert to get it up and going).
- I was able to get Google Analytics connected which means that I can now quantitatively check my blogs monthly page views.
- I joined a free trial with a company that monitors my website and when any new post comes up, they help me get more "shares" and "likes" from Pinterest and Facebook.
Statistics
Top 5 Recipes
Here is a list of my most popular recipes this month and the "shares" associated with each recipe:
- 3 Ingredient Keto Salmon Salad - 117 "Shares"
- Keto Candied Bacon with a "Fact or Fiction" Experiment - 120 "Shares"
- Thai Turkey Burger on an Avocado Bun (Whole30) - 147 "Shares"
- Super Easy Parmesan Cracker Crisps - 240 "Shares"
- No Bake Carrot Cake - 363 "Shares"
I still can not believe that I have had that many people "like" and "pin" my recipes. I honestly feel like there may be a slight chance that this blog is actually going to take off!
Google Analytics
According to Google Analytics, I had 1400 page views this month. Since I did not have this feature set up in December, I do not have a way to measure my progress but will be able to do so in the future. My goal is to get to 100,000 by January of next year. Lofty goal but it doesn't hurt to dream, does it?
Income Analysis
Expenses:
- I hired Feast Design to hook up my email subscription services - $29
Income:
- I made $4.50 from the Amazon Affiliate program
January 2019 Profit/Loss Report : -$605.50
FINAL THOUGHTS
I am still completely in love with blogging. I love the challenges as well as finding ways to overcome my failures. I am constantly amazed at watching this blog grow and am excited for the future to see how I too will grow along side this blog!
Happy Bloggin'!
