I'm sure you have heard more than one person say "I can't believe the year is almost over!". Well, I too have to say that the year sure did seem to go by quickly.
The new year, for me, is a great time for reflection. While I try to focus on all the "highs", I am also realistic and realize that there were also some lows. Luckily, every year thus far, my "highs" have significantly outnumbered my "lows".
With this in mind, my "lows" this year were simply my goals from last year that I did not follow through. I would not necessarily call them failures but rather "give ups". Why did I give up? That, I don't know. Maybe lack of accountability? Maybe lack of proper planning? Regardless, this year I intend on converting last years "lows" into "highs" in 2019.
So, does that mean I am going to have some New Year resolutions? Heck YES!
Statistics show that only 8% of people actually keep their New Year's resolution. That is a staggering low number considering that over 90% of people actually make a resolution in the first place.
My first goal this year is to NOT be one of the 82% of the population that creates resolutions and who do not follow through!
Ok, here are the goals for 2019
- commit to a regular fasting routine (you can read more here as to why fasting is so important to our health)
- be able to do an unassisted pull-up (this has been a goal of mine for over 5 years!)
- produce 3 good blog posts a week
- receive 1 cheque from the amazon affiliate program (I think you need to make over $25 before they will mail you a cheque)
- post new goals every month so that by the end of the year, i have accomplished 12 goals!
In order to accomplish this, I am going to use my blog and my readers (which I am not sure I have any yet but hopefully will have a small following by next year!) to hold me accountable. I will also create monthly posts to ensure that I have a proper plan in place. Dividing my year long goals into monthly accomplishments should certainly help me to stay my course.
Ready...Here we go!
I know these are exactly "lofty" goals but I want to start with baby steps. If for 12 months I keep making baby steps then by the end of the year I will have made one GIANT leap!
Explanation of the above calendar:
This calendar lists the days that I will fast starting with an aggressive 5 day fast. Each Sunday, I am aiming to decrease the amount of weight utilized on the assisted pull-up machine. If I can eliminate 5lbs of assistance every week, then in just over 14 weeks, I should be able to do a full unassisted pull-up!
If you feel like joining me on my journey, simply send me an email and we can work on accomplishing out goals together!
