This Chocolate Avocado Spread is sinfully delicious. Nut-free and sugar-free, this Chocolate Avocado Spread is just like Nutella without the hazelnuts. By simply combining some avocado and chocolate, you can enjoy a healthy, sugar-free chocolate spread on your morning toast.
I think I seriously have a major crush on all nuts and seeds.
Seriously, I think about these crunchy little salty-sweet things all day long.
Am I an addict?
Probably.
Am I willing to get help?
Probably not!
So, when some friends recently came over with their kids and they warned me that their som had a severe allergy to all nuts and seeds, I almost broke down and cried.
Could you imagine going through life with such bad luck?
After quickly pulling myself together, I decided that I had to try to come up with some type of spread that did not contain any seeds or nuts.
Racking my brain, I noticed some avocados on my counter looking ready to be eaten.
And that's when the light bulb went off!
Why not create a "Nutella" like spread that did not contain the "nut" part of the spread.
Yes! That was it! I was going to create Avocad-ella!!!
Why is "Avocad-ella" healthier than Nutella?
- it contains no artificial ingredients
- it contains healthier ingredients
- Nutella contains 200 calories and 22 grams of carbs of which 21 g is sugar. The Chocolate Avocado Spread has only 70 calories and 3.1 g of carbs and only 0.1 g of sugar
- It is allergy-friendly. It does not contain any milk, soy or nuts.
What ingredients do you need to make "Avocad-ella"?
- avocado
- unsweetened cocoa powder
- chocolate chips
- Erythritol and Lakanto Golden sugar replacements (or regular white and brown sugar)
- butter
- maple syrup (I use Lakanto Golden Syrup)
- vanilla
- salt
How to make Chocolate Avocado Spread
- puree some avocado
- add some unsweetened cocoa powder, melted chocolate chips, sugar, butter, vanilla, salt and maple syrup to the mixture

Tips and Tricks to making the best Chocolate Avocado Spread
- make sure you use a ripe avocado but not one that is too ripe
- taste the mixture as you go and adjust accordingly as all avocados are slightly different
- feel free to replace all sugar-free products with the exact same amount of sugar-based products
- add a dash of cinnamon or espresso powder for an added twist
How should you store the Chocolate Avocado Spread
Since it contains avocados, the spread must be stored in the refrigerator. Place the spread in an airtight container for up to one week in the fridge.
If you don't plan on using it up in a week, simply divide up the mixture and store one container in the freezer for up to 1 month. Pull the container out the night before to thaw and stir it before serving.
