Do you ever crave a burger? I LOVE a good juicy burger, but since trying to clean up my diet, I have limited my intake of red meat as well as wheat. So, the question is, "how can you have a burger without red meat and wheat?"
Instead of trying to create a "copycat" version of a true "tavern" style burger, I opted for a healthier and slightly different creation.
Since time is of the essence for almost every single human being in today's society, I settled for a turkey patty to replace the ground beef version. I used Butterball Lean Turkey patties since their list of ingredients are as such: lean ground turkey, salt. Enough said!
If you can't find a turkey patty that does not have a list as long as a 5 year old's letter to Santa Claus, then simply combine ground turkey with some of your favorite spices. Divide the patties into 4 oz circles and there you have it, a Whole30 turkey patty.
Now, on to the "bun". Since I had some leftover avocado, I decided to take my dairy free avocado pizza crust and modify it a little to see if I could create a bun for the burger.
By simply whipping the eggs a little longer, using less avocado and adding some ground psyllium husk, I managed to create a Whole30 bun perfect for my burger.
Keeping my hands wet, I formed the buns and placed them on a silicon mat. I use these silicon mats for almost all of my baking. They are easy to clean and since they are reusable, they are much better for the environment. Hi Meg!
These buns do not rise very much so whatever shape you make them, they will remain the same even after baking so make sure you do not flatten them too much.
Finally, I took my mayo, added some ginger, coconut aminos , hot sauce and garlic and whipped it all together to form a delicious topping to a perfect Thai inspired burger.
This burger could be served with Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Onion and Bacon for the perfect Whole30, Low Carb, Keto meal!
