High Protein Bar Recipe Ingredients
There are a handful of everyday ingredients needed to make these sugar-free chocolate almond protein bars.
- Nut Butter - Almond butter binds the all the ingredients together to create the base of this homemade protein bar. You can use salted or unsalted almond butter. If using salted, make sure to taste your protein nougat and only add any additional salt to suit your taste. You can substitute the almond butter for peanut butter, coconut oil or sunflower butter.
- Protein powder - I used Vanilla blended protein powder. You can pretty much use any type of protein powder as well as flavour, however, you may need to add more liquid or more powder to achieve the desired consistency.
- Liquid Sweetener - This ingredient also helps in adhering the homemade keto protein bar together. You have several options when it comes to sugar-free sweeteners. I have made these using ChocZero Sugar-free Honey, Lakanto Sugar-free Maple Syrup as well as KetoGoods Tapioca Fiber syrup.
- Coconut oil - You can use refined or unrefined coconut oil
- Coconut - Use unsweetened shredded coconut and not coconut flakes or chips as they are too large.
- Chia Seeds and Almonds - You can use chopped almonds or slivered almonds.
- Sugar-free chocolate - I like to use a combination of Bake Believe Melting Wafers along with an unsweetened 100% cocoa baking bar for the perfect chocolate topping but feel free to use any type of sugar-free chocolate (whether it be chips or a bar) that you wish.
- Salt - I LOVE Maldon salt as it adds the perfect amount of saltiness to these sugar-free chocolate almond protein bars.

Step 4 - Wait patiently
- Place the bars in the fridge until the bars are firm enough to remove.
How do you melt sugar-free chocolate in the microwave?
Add the chocolate to a microwaveable bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir the chocolate until all the chocolate has melted. If the chocolate does not fully melt after about 1 minute of stirring, return the bowl to the microwave for 15 seconds before stirring again. Repeat this process until all the chocolate has melted.
What can I use if I do not have a candy mould?
You can easily make these using a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Just make sure that you line the loaf pan with parchment or aluminum foil, making sure to have an overhang to make removing the keto candy bars easy.
How should I store these keto protein bars?
These bars are best stored in the fridge. They can be left at room temperature if your house is not too warm. Since I live in Florida, I store mine in the fridge. You can also easily freeze these bars as well.
Can I make these Copycat sugar-free Snickers bars nut-free?
Yes. You can use butter or sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter and pumpkin or sunflower seeds instead of peanuts.
What can I do if my protein nougat is too dry?
Different protein powders will absorb different amounts of liquid so if your nougat is too dry, simply add a tablespoon of liquid at a time(either water, almond milk or melted coconut oil), until the mixture comes together.
Do I have to use Egg White Protein powder?
No. However, unflavored egg white powder not only blends with the other ingredients but also gives these bars a beautiful chewy texture.
What type of keto liquid sweetener can I use?
You can use sugar-free maples syrup, sugar-free honey or tapioca fiber syrup to make these bars.
Where can I buy a silicon candy mold?
I bought mine on Amazon. I love this one since the silicon allows for easy removal of the bars!

If you look at the “ingredient” list in the body of the blog post, I have the liquid sweeteners you can use listed. If you click on the sweetener, each one is linked to a website showing a picture of the item as well as where I purchased it from.
Hope that helps!

Is the liquid sweetener like the SucraDrops off Amazon?
