I regret that I had never thought of combining curry with sweet potatoes before today! I am shocked at how delectable this dish turned out. Curry is a seasoning that I am not overly familiar with. Sure, I have heard of curry chicken as well as other curry dishes but have yet to try to make a curry dish from scratch.
I bought some organic curry spice the other day after reading an article on the benefits of turmeric which is one of the main ingredients in curry powder
What are the health benefits of turmeric
Turmeric, and especially its most active compound curcumin, have many scientifically proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer's and cancer. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis.
Can I get enough turmeric from curry powder?
Most curry powders contain the following ingredients: coriander, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, and chili peppers.
So the question therein lies, how much is enough? If you want anti-inflammatory effects you need to get 500 to 1,000 milligrams of curcuminoids per day. When using the spice on its own, the common rule of thumb is that there are 200 milligrams of curcumin in one teaspoon of fresh or ground turmeric (though it varies a bit depending on the source and origins)
Realistically, it takes a lot of curry powder to fulfill these needs so unfortunately, these fries will not be enough!
However, adding curry powder to several dishes such as your morning eggs or, sprinkled on your salad at lunch, will certainly add up.
And honestly, these fries are soooooooo delicious, that you won't even mind eating healthy.
