Do you ever feel like some people just like to complicate things? Well, this recipe is not going to be one of those times! This Simple Vegan Tzatziki Sauce is easy and yet so delicious!
The other day, I was craving Greek food.
I think we can all agree that Greek food just doesn't seem right without a delicious Tzatziki sauce.
For me, Greek food without Tzatziki is like a ladybug without her spots. You can not have one without the other!
So, I started surfing the web and saw a lot of different recipes for Tzatziki but almost all recipes had the basic fundamentals:
- sour cream or Greek yogurt
- cucumber
- dill
- garlic
- salt and pepper
How did I manage to make this Simple Vegan Tzatziki Sauce?
Since I want to try to make this Simple Vegan Tzatziki Sauce Whole30 as well, I knew I had to switch out the "milk" products for something out.
I had some leftover vegan creamy garlic sauce, so I decided to use that as my base. Problem solved!
I don't know about you, but when I have followed recipes for making tzatziki online, they always seem to get watery (especially the next day!) due to the cucumber.
Could you REALLY squeeze the heck out of the cucumber to prevent this? Sure, but honestly, why even put cucumber in it in the first place?
Seriously, does cucumber even taste like anything? The correct answer people is "no".
So, by eliminating the cucumber and using leftover vegan creamy garlic sauce, this recipe became significantly less complicated!
Just the way life should be!
What can I substitute in this Simple Vegan Tzatziki Sauce?
- If you don't mind milk products, you could always replace the Vegan Creamy Garlic Sauce with sour cream or Greek yogurt.
- If you do so, just make sure to add a little extra garlic to make up for the difference in the two bases.
This dip can be used with my chicken souvlaki recipe and also tastes amazing on my Air Fryer Baked Potatoes, as well as a great sauce for my Brussels sprout recipe.
You could also use this as a dip and serve it with my Almond Flax Seed Crackers or my Super Easy Parmesan Cracker Crisps

Why complicate things unnecessarily? This dip simply combines a cashew base cream sauce, some dill and garlic to create a delicious tzatziki dip!
- Total Time: 1 minute
- Yield: 2 cups 1x
Ingredients
- 1 cup Vegan Creamy Garlic Sauce
- 2 tbsp dill, dried
- 1 tbsp oregano, dried
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl, mix well and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow for the flavours to blend.
Notes
- If you prefer a more authentic version, simply dice ½ of a peeled cucumber and add it to the mixture. Just realize that it will be significantly more "watery" the next day.
- Feel free to substitute Greek yogurt or sour cream for the vegan garlic cream sauce. Add an additional 1-2 teaspoon of garlic in order to compensate for the added garlic in the vegan cream sauce.
