I am a big believer that if you change your attitude, you can change the world. Well, although I have yet to change the world, I feel like I was able to at least change my personal "blogging world"! Check out this post to read all about my May Monthly Blogging Report.
April was a little discouraging and I did not feel like I was in the right place mentally. After having a "high" in March and then not outperforming in April, I was a little discouraged.
What I learned about myself from blogging
At the end of last months' blogging report, I stated that my new goal was to try and enjoy the ride a little more when it comes to blogging.
You see, I truly enjoy challenges and setting goals. Sometimes, however, when I feel like I don't have good control over achieving my goal, I get discouraged. I am a "game plan" kind of person who always has at least 3 back up plans if the first one doesn't work.
That's a good thing, right? Well....yes and no.
Sometimes, I look so far into the future that I forget to enjoy the present.
For example, the other day as Mr. Grumbles and I were doing our weekend run on the beach, I noticed a kid, laughing and playing with no cares in the world.
This child was a perfect example of someone living a joyful, wholehearted life.
He wasn't thinking about how he was going to get the sand off when he got home or that the would have to clean up all his beach toys later.
He was truly living life, being present and enjoy the day.
This month, I worked really hard on being more present, by doing things like noticing the squirrels playing as well as stopping to truly see the flowers in full bloom.
I focused on my love of creating recipes and not whether or not they would be popular. I became vulnerable, which is at first nerve-racking, but in the end, it creates the most precious life one could ever want.
And let me tell you...not only did it pay off in my life in general but also for my blog! Keep reading to see how this month compared to last.
May Monthly Blogging Report Stats:
Number of Posts: 17 (4 new posts a week)
Number of Pinterest Followers: 127 (up from 83 in April)

- Easy Spicy Bay Scallops (Whole30, Keto) - 108 Pins
- 4 Ingredient Cannoli Dip (Low Carb, Keto) - 2400 Pins
Can you believe it?!!!!!!! I was floored, shocked and super excited when that recipe went "viral"! At first, I thought I would try to figure out "why" and see if I could recreate the same effect in June and then I realized that I reverting back to my April mindset of trying to control outcomes. What I learned from this viral pin is that I need to learn how to roll with things and enjoy the rides even if they are up and down!
Monthly Pinterest Viewers: 413 000 (up from 245 100 in April)
Monthly Pageviews from Google Analytics: 10,000 !!!!! (up from 5500 in April. March had been the record at 7700 so a new record was set!)
Monthly New Users from Google Analytics: 6400 (up from 3100 in April)
FAILURES
Well, asides from some recipes that didn't turn out and will therefore NEVER appear on this blog (poor Mr. Grumbles having to eat those epic failures...no wonders everyone keeps saying that he is looking skinny!:-), I really don't feel like I had any. Maybe it was the shift in my attitude but overall, this month was filled without a sense of failure.
SUCCESSES
I had a very good month, hit some record highs and had a pin go viral. But, the biggest success was my ability to let things go and enjoy the ride!
INCOME AND EXPENSES
- Income – $0 (However, I am getting closer to getting ads on my website...Only 90,000 more monthly page views to go:-)
- Expenses – Asides from my monthly recurring charge of $39 for the BlogPro company, I did spend $12 on Askimet which is a spam protector for my website. We all hate spam so the $12 was worth it.
PROFIT/LOSS
Beginning Balance: -$907.78
Income in April: $0
Expenses in April: -$39 + $12 = $51
Total Profit/Loss: -$997.78
FINAL THOUGHTS
There is nothing wrong with planning for the future. However, forgetting to enjoy the here and now is where the problem lies. Dream about your future, but don't forget to enjoy today!
