For those of you who don't know, my BFF is my dog, Dryden.
Always happy and never judgmental, my furry friend puts a smile on my face every day.
Except when it comes to mealtimes.
Believe it or not, I have the PICKIEST dog ever.
Seriously, most of the time, if you try to give him a store-bought treat, he spits it out.
I am not kidding!!
The only treats he seems to like are the super unhealthy ones that are so full of chemicals, I am scared that if he eats too many of them he will start glowing like a glow stick.
And that's why I decided to attempt to make homemade dog treats that were healthy, easy to make and that even the pickiest dog would eat.

How to make Eggshell Powder for the keto dog treats:
Oven Method:
- Leave eggshells at room temperature in an airtight container until you save enough to make a batch.
- Preheat the oven to 300 F.
- Spread the eggshells evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 5 to 7 minutes. The eggshells will still be mostly white or brown, but might have a light tint, which is okay. Baking eggshells any longer can produce an unpleasant smell.
- Allow the eggshells to cool, then grind in a blender or clean coffee grinder for 1 minute, or until you achieve a very fine powder with no sharp edges.
- Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
Sunlight Method:
- Leave eggshells at room temperature in an airtight container until you save enough to make a batch.
- Roughly break up the eggshells
- Place them in a tray and set them outside in the full sun
- Allow them to dry for 1-2 hours
Once eggshells are dry, place them in a high-speed blender for 1 minute or until they turn into powder. Store powder in a sealed container on the shelf for 1-2 weeks.
If you want to include Eggshell powder in your dog's raw food, what is the appropriate amount?
Eggshell Powder should be added to homemade diets at approximately ¾ teaspoon per cup of prepared food.
Should I add Eggshell powder to my dog's food if it is not raw?
Store-bought commercial dog food has added calcium and therefore it is unnecessary to add the eggshell powder to the food.
