There is nothing better then the smell of Chai tea. Deep and rich, the smell brings comfort especially on a cold winter night.
Where did Chai Originate?
Chai tea was founded in India by British soldiers. The British love their tea and in the mid 1800s, many British soldiers were stationed in India. Combining their love for tea with spices native to India, Chai tea was born.
I loved tea when I was growing up. Comforting and delicious, tea was a part of my childhood. However, having moved to Florida where it is hot most of the year, my desire for tea has decreased..
One day, I realized that the smell and taste of chai was something I still yearned. Not wanting to have it as a tea, I created this simple Chai spice blend that could easily be added to many recipes.
This spice blend can be used in muffin mixes, added to your morning coffee or to all your smoothie recipes. It gives the taste of Chai on a hot day without having to drink hot tea!
Ingredients and Health Benefits
- Ginger : has been used to help digestion, reduce nausea and help fight the flu and common cold. It is high in gingerol, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Ginger appears to speed up the emptying of the stomach. This can be very beneficial for people with indigestion, gastroparesis and related stomach discomfort.

Also, cinnamon has been shown to significantly increase sensitivity to insulin which helps to control blood sugar levels.
