Chicken wings are supposed to be deep fried and tossed in a spicy sauce right?
But these baked chicken wings are every bit as tasty as the traditional variety.
Seriously, Mr. Grumbles is a huge wing fan, and these knocked his socks off.
By using my Copy Cat Dorito Nacho Cheese Seasoning blend as the dry rub, these wings hit nearly every flavor component.
How do you make wings crispy without frying them?

- Make sure to fully dry the wings before baking
- Make sure to space the wings apart from each other
- Make sure to use a baking rack
- Coat the wings with a little baking powder
- Bake the wings at the right temperature
- Make sure to flip the wings
- Do not sauce the wings before baking
- Don't melt the butter before saucing the wings
What ingredients do you need to make these Crispy Nacho Cheese Dorito Wings?

- baking powder (aluminum-free)
- nacho cheese seasoning
How do you cook these Dorito Wings to make them extra crispy?
*Please make sure you read my post on how to make the CRISPY WINGS in order to prep the wings properly before baking*
For Oven-Baked Wings:
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil
- Place a oven-safe rack over the baking sheet and spray well with cooking spray
- Place the wings on the baking sheet making sure to not over-crowd the tray
- Bake at 425 degrees F. (convection) for 30 minutes
- Flip the wings and bake an additional 30 minutes
- Turn on the broiler and broil on "hi" for 1- 2 minutes or until the wings start to crisp
For Air Fryer Wings:
- Prep your air fryer basket according to the manufacturers directions
- Place the wings in a single layer and stand them upright along the side of the frying basket
- Turn the air fryer on at 400 degrees F. for 15 minutes
- Flip the wings and bake for an additional 15 minutes

Can I use frozen wings to make these Crispy Nacho Cheese Dorito Wings?
Absolutely!
Just make sure that you allow the wings to thaw out completely. Also, make sure that you pat the wings dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.

Ingredients
For the Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1 tbsp baking powder, aluminum free
- 2 tbsp Nacho Dorito Cheese seasoning
For the Sauce:
- 2-4 tablespoon butter, slighlty softened but NOT melted
- 2 tbsp Nacho Dorito Cheese Seasoning
Instructions
For crispy air fryer baked wings:
- Prep your air fryer basket according to the manufacturers directions and place the wings in a single layer. You can also stand some upright along the side of the frying basket
- Turn the air fryer on at 400 degrees F. for 15 minutes
- Flip the wings and bake for an additional 15 minutes
For crispy oven baked wings:
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a oven-safe rack over the baking sheet and spray well with cooking spray
- Place the wings on the baking sheet making sure to not over-crowd the tray
- Bake at 425 degrees F. (convection) for 30 minutes. Flip the wings and bake an additional 30 minutes

For the Sauce:
- Stir together the softened butter and nacho cheese seasoning and set it aside
- Once wings have cooked, place the wings in a large bowl with the seasoned butter. Stir or toss to coat.
