This Maple "Soy" Beef Brisket is an absolute delight! By simply combining maple syrup (or date paste for a Whole30 compliant recipe), coconut aminos (or soy sauce), tomato paste and onion soup mix, this marinated brisket is absolutely delicious. Prepare it in the oven, slow cooker or pressure cooker, they all create the most delicious and moist beef brisket.
What ingredient do you need to make this Maple Soy Brisket
- Maple syrup - I used Lakanto Maple Syrup to keep the sugars down
- Soy sauce - I used Coconut Aminos to avoid soy and keep this brisket Paleo and Whole30 approved
- Tomato Paste
- Onion Soup mix - I used my own Whole30 Onion Soup Mix recipe but you can use a package of Lipton Onion Mix (keep in mind that this product is NOT Whole30 or Paleo approved)
How can you make this Beef Brisket Whole30 approved
Easy! Simply replace the maple syrup with Date Paste and this brisket is now Whole30 compliant!
Do I have to use Beef Brisket?
Though few cuts can top brisket for flavour, you can substitute other cuts when making a pot roast, including a boneless chuck roast or a blade roast or even short ribs.
Directions for various cooking methods for the Maple Soy Brisket
In the oven:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Place brisket in a baking pan and cover with foil
- Cook for 3 hours, remove foil and cook for an additional 30 minutes
In a Slow cooker:
- Place brisket in the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-9 hours
In a Pressure Cooker:
- Add marinated brisket to the Instant Pot or pressure cooker (I have used my Ninja Foodie All-In-One)
- Seal vent
- Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 60 minute and Natural Release for 15 minutes
What temperature should my brisket be when fully cooked?
Beef should reach an internal temperature of 180 degrees F. Make sure to check the thickest cut of the meat in order to get the most accurate temperature.
Also, realize that the beef will continue to cook for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour if you do not cut into the meat. So feel free to remove the brisket at 175 degrees and let it sit as the beef will continue to cook and reach the 180 degrees F. mark before serving.
Can you make the Maple Soy Brisket ahead of time
Absolutely!
- Once the brisket has cooled, skim and discard the fat on the top of the liquid. Remove the brisket and slice it against the grain or, if you want, you can choose to pull the brisket instead.
- Place the brisket back in the sauce
- 1 hour before serving, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place the brisket in the oven and reheat, uncovered for 20-30 minutes, spooning sauce over the brisket every so often.
