Ready to see how much money you can save by making this simple spice mix at home?
I did a little research online and I found the Primal Palate brand had a jar of Apple Pie Spice mix that was selling for $6.63/oz. This company is all organic and all their spice mixes are Whole30 approved so I thought it would be the closest in comparison to my recipe.
Here is the cost per oz of each of the 3 spices that are used in my Apple Pie Spice mix recipe:
- Cinnamon - $0.29/oz
- Nutmeg - $0.73/oz
- Anise - $1.1/oz
So, compared to the Primal Palate, my Apple Pie Spice mix comes to $0.53/oz, a savings of over $6!!! If you were to use a pound of it in a year, this will save you over $96 a year!
I realize that you will not likely use an entire pound of Apple Pie Spice mix in a year but looking at the cost savings is a lot more dramatic when comparing store-bought vs. homemade.
