Keto Summer Cocktail Recipe
This Sugar-free Strawberry Lemon Cocktail is such the perfect drink today as I am seriously missing sunshine right now.
It is so unusual, but as I write this post, we have had about 3 days of clouds and rain! Might not seem like that long for those of you up north, but for us down in the sunshine state, it seems like an eternity!
When I was younger, I always remember the envy of watching the adults indulge on a warm summer day with either a Daiquiri or a Lemon drop.
I actually remember the first time I ever had one of these cocktails as they were so delicious! Not overly sweet and so refreshing, anything strawberry or lemon when it comes to cocktails reminds me of those awesome summer days!
With just the perfect amount of lemon juice and sweetness and just a nice lingering of alcohol, this sugar-free strawberry lemon cocktail is perfectly balanced.
It’s refreshing, fruity, and so pretty to look at...what more does a summer cocktail need to be?!
After trying to eliminate sugary carbs from my diet, I had (until recently!) removed all cocktails from my drink repertoire. Especially, since they tend to be rather pricey and oftentimes way too sugary for my tastes, I had pretty much given up on cocktails when we would go out. I mean seriously, cocktails these days can range from $10 to $16 for a drink that I probably won’t even like!
So instead, I decided to create homemade sugar-free cocktails that would not only be sugar-free but would also save me a ton of money.
Hence, my latest keto cocktail, a Sugar-Free Strawberry Lemon drink!

Easy Keto Cocktail
This cocktail couldn’t be easier.
Simply puree the strawberries with the lemon juice, Cointreau (or triple sec) and sugar-free simple syrup in a blender, then add it to a cocktail shaker with some ice and vodka (or gin!) and shake it like nobody's business. Strain the cocktail as you pour it over glasses filled with ice.
I don’t have a really fancy shaker or any fancy glasses, but I ended up with a drink that I’d be happy with even if I had to pay $10 for it.
And the best thing...it probably cost under $1 to make!!!
The refreshing mix of fresh strawberries with lemon juice, some vodka and a splash of Cointreau, or triple sec, if you’d rather, is the perfect spring/summer drink.
And if you think making a sugar-free simple syrup is hard, guess again! You can easily make a sugar-free simple syrup ready for all your keto summer cocktail recipes in a matter of minutes. You can find my Sugar-free simple syrup recipe here or you can use my Sugar-free Lemon Simple syrup instead for an insanely lemony sugar-free cocktail recipe.
However, I recently noticed that you can actually buy sugar-free simple syrup as well. I have not tried store-bought sugar-free simple syrups but you can find them on Amazon. Three highly rated brands are Wholesum Yum, NuNaturals as well as Lakanto.
Whichever way you decide to go, this pinkish-red delight is sure to brighten even the gloomiest of days!

Easy Keto Cocktail Recipe
PREPARE THE SUGAR-FREE SIMPLE SYRUP:
- Place the allulose and water in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and remove it from the heat. Whisk in ⅛ teaspoon xanthan gum and set the sugar-free simple syrup aside to cool fully and then place it in the fridge in an airtight container until ready to use.
PREPARE THE SUGAR-FREE STRAWBERRY LEMON COCKTAIL:
- Place the sugar-free simple syrup, lemon juice, strawberries, and Cointreau or triple sec in a shaker and muddle the mixture until the strawberries have been fully broken down.
- Add the vodka and some ice to the shaker. Shake until combined.
- Pour the cocktail into the glasses, add slices and strawberries for garnish, serve, and enjoy!
What is Cointreau or Triple Sec?
Cointreau is a type of Triple Sec (a family of dry orange liqueurs). Triple Sec is both the name of a category and also refers to an inexpensive, lower quality orange liqueur. Cointreau has a stronger, smoother and more complex flavour vs Triple Sec. It's slightly more expensive and higher in alcohol level.
If you don't have either of these, you can always use a tablespoon of orange juice.
1 tablespoon of orange juice only has 7 calories and 1.3 grams of carbs which is the same as adding a teaspoon of Cointreau.
Is Cointreau or Triple Sec allowed on a Keto diet?
It is true that both Cointreau and Triple Sec are high in carbs and sugar.
However, this recipe only calls for 1 teaspoon of either of these spirits. 1 teaspoon is equal to about 0.2 oz and so in total, adding just a splash of Cointreau will only add less than 0.5 grams of carbs (sugar) per sugar-free Strawberry Lemon Cocktail.
Of course, if you want, you can always omit the Cointreau or Triple Sec but I just love the added flavour and don't mind the 0.5 grams of carbs!

Carbs and Calories in this Sugar-Free Cocktail Recipe
Believe it or not, this amazing sugar-free Strawberry Lemon Cocktail only contains 140 calories of which 2.6 grams are carbs and only 1.6 grams of sugar.
I couldn't find a strawberry lemon cocktail pre-made cocktail mix online but I did find a strawberry daiquiri mix that contains over 44 grams of sugar!
So, even though this keto summer cocktail recipe contains real strawberries and Cointreau, you can ABSOLUTELY still drink this cocktail on a keto diet!
Can I use frozen strawberries?
You sure can! Just make sure that you thaw and drain them well before using them.
Can I make this ahead of time?
Of course! You can make this up one day ahead. Just make sure to chill it in the refrigerator without ice until ready to serve.
