  • Total Time: 5
  • Yield: 2 1/4 cups 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz (1 cup) butter
  • 1 cup Bocha Sweet
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan.  Add in the sweetener and bring to a boil.  Boil for 5 minutes and remove from heat.  Carefully, in small batches, add in the heavy cream, whisking after each addition.
  2. Stir in the vanilla and salt.  Allow it to come to room temperature before placing it in the fridge

For a Thicker Caramel:

  1. Follow the above Step 1 directions and after adding heavy cream, return the saucepan to the stovetop and continue to boil for an additional 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in vanilla and salt and allow to cool

Notes

  • the caramel will firm as it cools
  • if you use other type of sweeteners the taste will be the same but it sill crystalize as it cools.  Simply heat the caramel up and stir it to dissolve the crystalize sugar before using.
