- 3 oz guajillo peppers, dried, stem and seeds removed
- 2 cups boiling water
- 3-5 garlic cloves
- 2 tsp salt
- 2-4 tbsp sweetener
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tsp cumin
Instructions
- Add the seeded dried peppers, garlic, salt, 2 tbsp sweetener, cocoa powder, liquid smoke and cumin to a large bowl. Boil water and pour it over the peppers. Let sit for 30 minutes.
- Place all the ingredients into a high speed blender. Add in the vinegar. Process until smooth, about 1 minute. Taste the sauce and add additional sweetener to suit your taste.
