These Keto Chocolate Peanut Butter Muddy Buddies (also known as puppy chow), are a classic holiday treat that is always guaranteed to be a crowd favourite. Keto cereal is coated with a combination of melted sugar-free chocolate and peanut butter, then tossed in a combination of vanilla protein powder and powdered sweetener for the ultimate easy keto snack.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 32 servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Keto Muddy Buddies:

  • 6 cups keto cereal
  • 1 cup sugar-free chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

For the Powdered Coating:

Instructions

  1. Place the cereal in an extra large bowl and set aside (you larger the bowl, the easier it is to completely cover the cereal with the chocolate mixture)
  2. Place sugar-free chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue warming mixture until smooth and combined, about 15 seconds longer. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir until evenly coated.   Allow the chocolate to cool slightly before adding the protein powder.  Start with 1/4 cup protein powder and toss to coat the cereal.  Repeat with additional 1/4 cup, making sure to toss the cereal before adding the additional 1/4 cup.  Once all the protein powder has been added and has covered the cereal, spread the mixture on a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet.  Taste the mixture and dust with additional powdered sweetener to suit your taste.

    Notes

    • use a vanilla-based protein powder that you like - if you do not like the protein powder that you have, use only the powdered sweetener instead.
    • you can always add the cereal to a large ziplock bag and toss the cereal with the protein powder and powder sweetener.
    • make sure to taste the mixture and only add additional sweetener if desired.
