Making delicious nut butters at home couldn't be any easier. From coconut, almond, macadamia, cashew and walnut, making them at home is so much cheaper and tastier than buying them at the store.

  • Total Time: 6 minutes
  • Yield: 16 tbsp 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3-4 cups unsweetened coconut flakes (or any nuts or seeds of choice)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
  • stevia, cinnamon, sugar, honey...etc. (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place your ingredients in the bowl of a food processor (mine is an 8 cup processor).
  2. Turn on your food processor and let it run anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on what ingredients you use, scrapping down the sides every 3 minutes.
  3. Turn off the food processor when the desired consistency has been achieved.  Store butter in an air tight container  and store on the shelf for 2-3 weeks.  If not planning on using all the butter, transfer some to a container and place in the freezer.  When ready to use, simply remove the container from the freezer and allow it to come to room temperature.  If you are in a hurry, simply place sealed butter in a large bowl of hot water until it melts.

Notes

  • If you have a very large food processore, you may need to add more nuts, seeds or coconut to the container and vice versa if your food processor is smaller.
  • Be patient!  At first, it does not look like right but eventually the nuts, seeds and coconut break down to form the butter.
