Ingredients
Only 8 basic ingredients are needed for this keto special sauce recipe!
- Egg - The egg is used to make the homemade mayo
- Oil - Use avocado oil for the neutral taste as well as that it does not harden when placed in the fridge. Do NOT use olive oil or coconut oil as olive oil will turn bitter when blended and coconut oil will solidify in the fridge.
- Pickles - Use dill pickles and dice the pickle into small chunks. You can also use dill relish instead. Just make sure that you do not use sweet relish.
- Mustard - Basic yellow mustard adds a nice kick to the sauce.
- Spices - Sweet paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder help to ensure that this copycat special sauce recipe tastes just like the real thing.
- Vinegar - Helps to add flavour as well as to thin out the sauce slightly. I used rice vinegar but you can use white vinegar or apple cider vinegar instead.
- Sweetener - I like to use liquid sweetener but any sweetener will work. Tapioca Fiber syrup has 5 grams of prebiotic fiber per teaspoon! However, if you do not have any liquid sweetener, feel free to add additional sweetener to suit your taste.

Instructions
All you need is an immersion blender and about 5 minutes of time to make this homemade keto burger sauce!
Add all the ingredients into the bowl of the immersion blender, making sure to not break the egg yolk.
Press the immersion blender all the way to the bottom of the bowl, trapping the egg yolk with the blender.
While keeping the bottom of the immersion blender in contact with the bottom of the bowl, turn on the immersion blender.
Once some of the oil has been incorporated, slowly tilt and lift the blender to incorporate the rest of the oil until no oil remains.
Store the copycat special sauce in the fridge until ready to use.
Hint: Make sure that you make this recipe at least 30 minutes ahead of time to allow the flavours to really come together. You can even make this the night before if you want!
Variations
Giving the visitor ideas on how they can change this recipe to better suit their dinner guests or their cultural cuisine, is a great way to increase the chances they make the recipe
- Spicy - add chili pepper flakes, hot sauce or chopped jalapenos
- Deluxe - chopped some jarred roasted red peppers and/or banana peppers or a spoonful of sugar-free ketchup.
- BBQ - give this copycat keto sauce recipe a BBQ twist by stirring in 1-2 tablespoons of Sugar-Free Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe.

Storage
You will want to store this keto Big Mac special sauce in an airtight container in the fridge. If you use homemade mayo, the sauce will last for about 7 days. However, if you use store-bought mayo that contains preservatives, this keto special sauce should last about 1 month.
I do not suggest freezing any leftover copycat special sauce as I think the sauce will separate.
Equipment
You will need an immersion blender for this recipe. I LOVE my Cuisinart Immersion blender but if you want to spend less money, there are a plethora of immersion blenders on amazon for under $30!
Pro Tip
Make sure to keep the bottom of the immersion blender in contact with the base of the bowl. This will force the oil to slowly combine with the egg yolk and remaining ingredients to create a nice and creamy texture for this keto Big Mac special sauce.
What if I do not have an Immersion blender?
If you do not have an immersion blender, you can omit the egg and oil from the recipe and just use store-bought mayo.
Can I use a different type of oil for this recipe?
You can use canola or rapeseed oil but I do not think they taste as good in this recipe.
What is an immersion blender?
Sometimes called a "stick blender" or "hand blender", an immersion blender immerses the blender blades into the ingredients, rather than pouring ingredients into a blender jar like other types of blenders.
